Screen Sanity’s Plugged-in Planner series is broken into three different phases of digital childhood: preschool, elementary school and middle school. Mute Your Notifications | Pay attention to the apps that send you regular notifications. Then, choose which notifications you actually NEED and which just add unnecessary clutter and distraction to your day.

Delete Unused Apps | Identify which apps you use frequently, and which are collecting digital dust. Regardless of storage space, apps can also take up unnecessary brain space. Be generous in waving goodbye to what you don’t need and feel comfort knowing if you change your mind, it’s an easy fix.

Create Device-free Zones | A great place to start? Tables and bedtimes. Phone-free tables invite conversation and phone-free bedtimes invite…sleep! Create a “phone home” where devices can live when they’re not in use. This helps build accountability within your family and ensures everyone is on the same page.
