Spring is the perfect time for a clean start. And don’t worry, you can keep the feather duster in the closet for this one. Here are three simple ways to spring clean your digital world.

1️⃣ Mute Your Notifications | Pay attention to the apps that send you regular notifications. Then, choose which notifications you actually NEED and which just add unnecessary clutter and distraction to your day.

2️⃣ Delete Unused Apps | Identify which apps you use frequently, and which are collecting digital dust. Regardless of storage space, apps can also take up unnecessary brain space. Be generous in waving goodbye to what you don’t need and feel comfort knowing if you change your mind, it’s an easy fix.

3️⃣ Create Device-free Zones | A great place to start? Tables and bedtimes. Phone-free tables invite conversation and phone-free bedtimes invite…sleep! Create a “phone home” where devices can live when they’re not in use. This helps build accountability within your family and ensures everyone is on the same page.

Trying to figure out whether you want your kid downloading the latest app? Find a child 3-5 years older! Kids are a great source of information, and many will share than even though they may have a certain app, it doesn’t serve them or their friends well.

When your child hears an “it’s not worth it”from an older kid, it can really help enforce what we are trying to communicate with them as parents.
