Scott Rice: Treasure Imagination

A mom sitting next to her son on a park bench. She is scrolling on her phone while he plays a game on his tablet.

Need an example of tech for good? This is it. Scott Rice, writer-director from Austin, Texas, just released a new film titled “Treasure Imagination”.

In this film, a city-boy is distraught when his beloved tablet is taken away from him by his mom. But when he finds a mysterious fedora left on a park bench, his temptation to place it on his head leads to adventure.

We love this short film for its amazing message – that the imagination of our kids is alive and well. Sometimes they just need the time and space to practice using it. As parents, teachers or community leaders we have to remember just how captivating the world can be when kids have a chance to flex their imagination muscle.

We also love the way this film was created, exploring a new technology called virtual production. You can learn more about this new style of production by watching this short video (spoiler alert: it’s very cool). This is a great way to show kids that technology can be used to create, not just consume. How might they be inspired by learning about this new technology?

We are so honored to have been mentioned in the credits of Treasure Imagination alongside our mission statement, to create a world where kids are more captivated by life than screens. Whether it starts with a fedora, a blanket fort or a cardboard box, invite imagination into your child’s life today.
